After the market we split into two different groups. The first group cleaned an apartment for some folks who were moving to Paris after being displaced from North Africa. The other group stuffed apartment mailboxes with literature where people could request "More than a Carpenter" in their language or Jesus films.
For lunch we went to a Palestinian owned restaurant called the Chicken Spot. We had ordered our food and were sitting down waiting when a Muslim lady came in and started to talking with one of the missionaries and Greg. Someone mentioned that we were there on a mission trip to help people in that neighborhood. She flipped out and started yelling about how what we were doing was bad, that the girls had to make their own choice about religion, about how they didn't need our help and we shouldn't be there. Everyone in the restaurant was watching this spectacle.
Some of the girls were crying because she wouldn't listen to anything we were saying. We kept trying to tell her that we were there because we loved her and her people and we wanted to serve people. We remained pretty calm and tried to talk about Jesus with her and she just kept yelling. She tried to get the restaurant owners to get on her side and they basically told her, "I sell chicken, they came in for chicken, do you want some too?" Luckily she placed her order and left. We prayed that people would see Jesus in our reactions to her yelling. During our meal the owners gave us some free chicken to try to make up for her behavior. They were so nice and the food was great.
After lunch we went to clean another apartment and tried to distribute literature in another neighborhood.
